Who are Ourside Youth Centre?
We provide a safe and welcoming space for anyone aged 11 to 19, offering open access sessions alongside targeted youth work. As the only dedicated youth centre in the area our youth workers see approximately 100 young people come through our doors every week.
We’re open for 5 sessions each week providing everything from pool tables, games and social space to support such as; mental health, sexual health advice, careers advice, drugs and substance awareness or just a friendly face.
Ourside was founded for young people by young people. We understand the importance of having a place to go that you can rely on with someone to talk to who listens.
We respond to the ever-changing challenges and issues facing young people in our community. Each young person has a different story and we’re passionate about delivering the support and opportunities they deserve and that will enable them to develop and flourish.
Ourside youth centre was opened a few years ago by a group of Young People who campaigned and raised loads of money over four years, to make Ourside happen. The founding group of Young People are now Young Adults but are as committed as ever to the project.
We have formed a group as we are worried and unhappy, that our Youth Centre will dramatically change after a recent decision made by Worcestershire County Council to cut £1.4 million from the Youth Service.
Here we’ll keep you updated on any news relating to Ourside.
